KCGM Operations

KCGM

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) Operations is a world class asset located adjacent to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder approximately 600 kilometres east of Perth, Western Australia. The KCGM Operations include the Fimiston Open Pit (Super Pit), Mt Charlotte Underground Mine and the Fimiston and Gidji Processing Plants.

Kanowna Belle

Kanowna Belle

The Kanowna Belle mine site is situated in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 18 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie.  Open pit mining commenced in 1993, with full underground production achieved in 1998.  The Kanowna Belle operations were acquired by Northern Star in 2014.

South Kalgoorlie Operations

South Kalgoorlie Operations

The South Kalgoorlie Operations (SKO) are located within the Eastern Goldfields Superterrane and the 842sqkm tenement package traverses across the Coolgardie, Ora Banda, Kambalda and Boorara Domains.  The South Kalgoorlie assets were acquired by Northern Star in 2018.

Carosue Dam Operations

Carosue Dam Operations (CDO) includes the Carosue Dam Project, the Porphyry Project, and the Deep South Project. Northern Star acquired the original CDO assets in 2006 and commenced commercial gold production in 2010.

Jundee Operations

Jundee

The Jundee Operations are located in the Northern Goldfields region of Western Australia around 45 kilometres northeast of Wiluna and approximately 520 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie. Production commenced in 1995 from a complex of open pits (now ceased), and in 1997 from two underground mines. Ore is currently sourced only from the underground mining operations.  Jundee was acquired by Northern Star in 2014.

The Thunderbox Operations

The Thunderbox Operations

The Thunderbox Operations (TBO) are located in the highly prospective Yandal Belt and the Agnew-Wiluna Belt in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.   Northern Star acquired TBO in 2014 and commenced commercial gold production in 2016. TBO includes the Thunderbox, Kailis, Bannockburn and Waterloo Projects.

Bronzewing

Bronzewing

Bronzewing is located approximately 83 km north-east of Leinster, Western Australia and is located within the Yandal Greenstone Belt.  Northern Star acquired Bronzewing in 2019. The Bronzewing Operations are in a care and maintenance phase.  Bronzewing and Orelia open pits are currently undergoing development.

Tanami Project

Tanami Project

The Tanami project operations are located approximately 650km north-west of Alice Springs and 850km south-west of Darwin. The project is accessible from the public Tanami Road that passes within 2km of the camp and treatment plant. Access to other parts of the project areas is via well formes, and in part sealed, private mine haul roads, pastoral station roads and exploration tracks.

Graduate Programs

Our Graduate Program is a multi-discipline 2-year tenure which aims to ensure that individuals understand the Northern Star operational model. Training is divided into two sections; general and discipline specific components. Graduates who successfully complete Northern Star’s graduate program will have the opportunity to become future department managers and technical experts for not only Northern Star, but the wider mining industry.

Vacation Programs

Vacation work is offered to students in either their second or third year of study for a 12-week period commencing late November and is a targeted and structured program of on the ground mentoring which allows students to transfer their knowledge learnt during study and apply it in an operational environment. The program assists in paving the pathway into early acceptance to our Graduate Program pending successful completion of studies with a certain GPA as well as obtaining positive vacation performance evaluation.
